China is ready to collaborate with Germany in the areas of economics and trade, with both nations being partners, not opponents, according to a statement made by China’s Foreign Minister, Qin Gang, as reported by Reuters. Qin was present at a joint press conference with his German colleague, Annalena Baerbock, where he noted the main challenge facing the bilateral relationship was the artificial impediment to normalizing economic and trade cooperation.
The Chinese minister pointed out that Germany should respect the One China principle in its relations with China and strongly oppose Taiwan’s independence. China recently conducted military exercises in the area around Taiwan to hone its military capabilities in real combat conditions.
Regarding Ukraine, Qin stated that all parties involved in the conflict must maintain objectivity and calmness. China’s role in the matter is limited to promoting peaceful negotiations and avoiding adding fuel to the fire.
